Heisman 2026 odds: is Jeremiah Smith at 63.5¢ value?

Polymarket prices Jeremiah Smith at 63.5¢ to win the 2026 Heisman Trophy, a 63.5% market-implied probability at 14:15:27 UTC on October 11, 2026, and a proportional de-vig of FanDuel's 12-name board at -195 (1.51 decimal) lands near 56.4%: about 7.1 percentage points of richness on the YES, not a demonstrated edge.

After Week 3, and before the September 26, 2026 Illinois game, BetMGM listed Jeremiah Smith at +1000 to win the 2026 Heisman, a co-third choice rather than a favourite's price (VegasInsider, read on October 11, 2026). By 14:15:27 UTC on October 11, 2026, his YES on Polymarket was 63.5¢, a 63.5% market-implied probability, on $58,829 of volume. FanDuel's -195 on October 11, 2026, printed by Bleacher Report, is a 66.1% raw implied probability and a 1.51 decimal price. Strip the vig across the 12 names on that board and his share falls to 56.4%. The contract sits about 7.1 percentage points above that cross-check, and the gap is not a demonstrated edge.

From plus-1000 before Illinois to a minus-195 favourite

VegasInsider's BetMGM account, read on October 11, 2026, starts further out than +1000. Smith opened at +1400, ninth choice, a 6.7% raw implied probability if you divide 100 by 1,500. After Week 3 he was co-third at +1000, a 9.1% raw price, with Mensah and Chambliss the +325 co-favourites. Those are stickers, not vig-free chances.

Illinois changed the sticker. On September 26, 2026 he caught 12 passes for 217 yards, with four touchdowns, in a 42-19 win (cfbstats receiving log). BetMGM moved him from +1000 to +250, a 28.6% raw price, then to +275, or 26.7%. Iowa on October 3 was 11 catches for 206 yards, with two scores, in a 31-14 win at a team the log labels No. 20. BetMGM went to even money, then to -120. A minus price is the stake divided by the stake plus 100, so -120 is 54.5% raw.

Beside that -120 quote the page prints 44 catches, 823 yards and nine scores. Add Maryland on October 10, four catches for 93 yards and two scores, and the sums are 48, 916 and 11. The -120 belongs to the five-game player. FanDuel's -195 on October 11, 2026 is the later book price this cross-check uses, a 66.1% raw implied probability. Polymarket's 63.5¢ sits under that raw figure and above the vig-stripped share.

Six figures hold the card.

• Market. NCAA Football: 2026 Heisman Award Winner, the Jeremiah Smith YES (Polymarket, 14:15:27 UTC on October 11, 2026)
• Price. 63.5¢, a 63.5% market-implied probability before fees, with a 63¢ bid and a 64¢ ask (Polymarket gamma, 14:15:27 UTC on October 11, 2026)
• Cross-check. 56.4% proportional share of the 12 FanDuel names at -195, or 1.51 decimal (Bleacher Report, October 11, 2026)
• Gap. 7.1 percentage points of richness on the YES, 63.5 minus 56.4, and not a demonstrated edge
• Catalyst. at the opponent labelled No. 7 Indiana on October 17, 2026, with the ceremony scheduled for December 12, 2026 (cfbstats, Polymarket rules)
• Break. a YES print at 56¢ or lower, or no winner named by 11:59 p.m. ET on December 26, 2026

What the 63.5 cent contract actually settles

One question settles the leg: will Jeremiah Smith win the 2026 Heisman Trophy? At 14:15:27 UTC on October 11, 2026 gamma showed 63.5¢, last trade 63¢, bid 63¢ and ask 64¢. Event volume was about $114,594, with about $58,829 on Smith, or 51.3%. Across the prior 24 hours the event did about $61,068 and Smith about $53,970, or 88.4%. The money is on this leg. In dollars the outright is still thin.

Settlement follows the ceremony currently scheduled for December 12, 2026. If that night slips past 11:59 p.m. ET on December 26, 2026, or is cancelled, or nobody has been named, the event resolves to Other. Co-winners go to the listed name that comes first alphabetically. The named source is the Heisman Trophy Trust at heisman.com. The gamma end instant is 2026-12-27T04:59:00Z. A Smith YES loses in the Other case even if he is honoured later.

Jeremiah Smith at 63.5¢ is not a demonstrated value price on Polymarket's 2026 Heisman market. At 14:15:27 UTC on October 11, 2026 the public gamma record put his YES at 63.5¢, a 63.5% market-implied probability before fees, with the book at 63¢ bid and 64¢ ask. FanDuel, on the board Bleacher Report printed that day, had him at -195, which is 1.51 in decimal and a 66.1% raw implied probability: 195 divided by 295. Those 12 printed names sum to 117.2% raw. Divide 66.1 by 117.2 and the proportional share is 56.4%. The YES is about 7.1 percentage points richer than that share. The gap fails as an edge because the printed board is not the full field, so any missing longshot pushes 56.4% down, and because the other Polymarket legs are quoted too wide to turn the board into a second probability. The counting stats explain the favourite tag. They do not, on their own, name a true chance of winning the award.

The FanDuel arithmetic, and where it stops

How the 56.4% share is built

Bleacher Report's Zach Bachar, on October 11, 2026, printed one FanDuel board: Smith -195, Keelon Russell +650, Darian Mensah +1200, CJ Carr +1200, Trinidad Chambliss +1500, Julian Sayin +3000, Gunner Stockton +3000, Drew Mestemaker +4000, Josh Hoover +4000, Kamario Taylor +5500, Arch Manning +6500 and Malachi Toney +6500. Smith's raw price is 195/295, or 66.10%. Each plus-money name is 100 divided by the American price plus 100. The 12 raw figures sum to 117.2%. His share is 66.10 divided by 117.2, which is 56.4%.

That share is the whole estimate. Missing longshots would fatten the denominator and push it down, so 56.4% is an upper bound on a longer FanDuel board, not a floor and not a vote model. A power method would need a chosen parameter. Choosing one would be an invention. The window is this October 11, 2026 board against the gamma record at 14:15:27 UTC.

Subtract 56.4 from 63.5 and the midpoint is 7.1 percentage points rich. The 64¢ ask is 7.6 rich. The 63¢ bid is 6.6. On about $58,829 of volume, that is not an edge. The same cents-versus-book reading shapes the NFC Championship odds note on Dallas and the MLS Cup odds note on Vancouver. Bachar tied -195 to the FanDuel Heisman tab on October 11, 2026. The BetMGM path stops at Iowa. It is not a post-Maryland quote.

Six games, 916 yards, and the split that matters

Through October 10, 2026 the receiving log lists 48 catches for 916 yards at 19.08 yards each, with 11 touchdowns in six games. Stamped 05:02 on October 11, 2026, that is 152.7 yards a game.

Ball State plus Kent State comes to 13 catches and 236 yards. That is 25.8% of the receiving yards (236 divided by 916) and two of the 11 scores. The other four games are 680 yards, or 74.2% of the season, with nine scores. Eight catches and 164 yards also came in the September 12 loss at the team labelled No. 1 Texas. This is not an undefeated-team illusion.

On the team page, through the same October 10 date, Ohio State is 5-1 and 3-0 in conference, with 256 points scored and 79 allowed. Team passing touchdowns are 20. Smith's 11 receiving scores are 11 of those 20. Bleacher Report on October 11, 2026 called the Buckeyes No. 5 and repeated the six-game line. A favourite's tag has a stat line under it.

"If it's one-on-one, he's open. If he's double-covered, he's sort of open. If he's triple-covered, he's covered, so that means somebody's got to be open somewhere else. I say that half-kidding."

Ryan Day, Ohio State head coach (Sports Illustrated, October 6, 2026)

Day said that in the Maryland week, before the 45-16 win, and he marked it as half a joke about how defences tilt towards Smith. Coverage talk is not a vote share, and it does not move 56.4% up to 63.5%.

Production behind Jeremiah Smith at 63.5¢ is real, and it still does not show the YES is cheap. The cfbstats receiving log, stamped 05:02 on October 11, 2026 and running through October 10, lists 48 receptions for 916 yards at 19.08 yards each, with 11 touchdowns across six games. Strip Ball State and Kent State, the 56-3 and 59-3 wins, and 236 yards leave with two scores. What remains is 680 yards, 74.2% of the season once 680 is divided by 916, from Texas, Illinois, Iowa and Maryland, plus nine scores. Eight catches for 164 yards also came in the 23-24 loss at then-No. 1 Texas on September 12. Ohio State is 5-1 and 3-0 in conference on that site's team page. A market can sit at 63.5¢ on this log without being silly. Sitting there is not the same as being cheap. Yards do not mint a vote share, and the 7.1 percentage point gap over the FanDuel share is still richness on the YES.

A wide receiver at a quarterback's price

Heisman's winners archive lists 2020 as DeVonta Smith, a wide receiver, then quarterbacks Bryce Young, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Fernando Mendoza, with Travis Hunter in 2024 tagged CB/WR. Four quarterbacks follow 2020, plus one two-way player. Hunter blocks any claim that a pass catcher cannot win. He also played defensive back, which is a different job from Smith's.

NCAA.com called the 2020 win the fourth by a wide receiver, and the first since Desmond Howard in 1991. That is history, not a rate. Turning a short list into a probability weight would fake a precision this article does not have. Position is a reason for scepticism about 63.5¢. It is not a second number beside 56.4%.

"Smith is the most-bet player and the biggest liability to win the award."

Seamus Magee, trading manager, BetMGM (VegasInsider, page read on October 11, 2026)

A book calling its most-bet name a liability is talking about tickets, not a fair chance. Crowded tickets can shorten a sticker, which is one way a 66.1% raw price and a 63.5¢ contract can both look busy. Tickets alone do not prove the YES is rich. The 12-name arithmetic is what carries that claim, and only that far.

Where FanDuel and Polymarket do not agree

Four names are enough to see the disagreement. Smith's row is the only one where both the Polymarket touch and the FanDuel number are tight enough to compare without a wince. The gap column is Polymarket's YES midpoint minus the proportional FanDuel share. Positive means the YES is richer than that share.

PlayerPolymarket YES (¢)Implied %FanDuel AmericanRaw implied %De-vig share %Gap (pp)

Trinidad Chambliss6.156.15+15006.255.33+0.82
Keelon Russell2.052.05+65013.311.4-9.3

Sources: Polymarket gamma at 14:15:27 UTC on October 11, 2026, and FanDuel prices as printed by Bleacher Report on October 11, 2026. De-vig method: proportional, 12 printed names only. Shares rounded to one decimal except Chambliss, where the raw price is exactly 6.25%.

Russell's -9.3 is not a price anyone can lift. At that gamma timestamp the bid was 0.5¢, the ask 3.6¢ and the last trade 6.5¢, on about $6,862. Calling 2.05¢ a price is generous, and even 3.6¢ is nowhere near an 11.4% share. Mensah is cleaner: 7¢ bid and 10¢ ask around an 8.5¢ mid, about 1.9 percentage points over a 6.6% share, on roughly $5,091. Chambliss sits nearer still, a 6.15¢ mid against a 5.33% share, with the book at 5.1¢ bid and 7.2¢ ask.

Sum the YES midpoints on the 29 names with more than $1 traded, ignoring empty 50¢ placeholders, and the total is 1.248. Smith's 63.5¢ is 50.9% of it. Posted bids, 25 of them, sum to 0.868, so the 63¢ bid is 72.6% of the bids. Asks sum to 1.627, so the 64¢ ask is 39.3% of the asks. About 33 percentage points separate those shares. None is a probability. Wide longshot books did that. They cannot support a tighter point estimate than the 7.1 percentage point gap, and the gap itself leans on an incomplete board.

Where this bet breaks

The lean, such as it is, says the YES at 63.5¢ is not shown to be cheap. It fails if any of these four things shows up in public.

  • An absence on the remaining slate. If Smith is ruled out, or does not play, the counting-stat case under a favourite's price is the input that drops. The first date on the cfbstats schedule is October 17, 2026.
  • Two losses in the labelled marquee games. cfbstats, through October 10, 2026, lists Indiana on October 17, USC on October 31, Oregon on November 7 and Michigan on November 28. Two losses in that group would thin the spotlight case the 63.5¢ price is leaning on.
  • A print through either reference level. At 56¢ or lower, the richness versus the 56.4% share is gone. At 66¢ or higher, the YES is through FanDuel's vigged 66.1% as well, and "about 7 percentage points rich" no longer describes the screen.
  • No winner by the cutoff. If the ceremony slips past 11:59 p.m. ET on December 26, 2026, or nobody is named by then, the market resolves to Other and the Smith YES loses even if he is named afterwards.

Indiana on October 17, then December 12

Indiana is next, on October 17, 2026, labelled No. 7 on the cfbstats schedule through October 10. USC is October 31, labelled No. 19. Oregon is home on November 7, labelled No. 13. Michigan is November 28. Northwestern is November 14. Nebraska is November 21. Rank labels will move. The dates will not, and neither will the question of whether Smith is listed.

Inside that stretch, 56¢ and 66¢ are the reference prints on the Smith YES. A quote that stays inside the 63¢ to 64¢ touch does not change the October 11 reading. A quote that leaves it, or a FanDuel number that leaves -195 far enough to move the 56.4% share, does. Ceremony night in the rules is December 12, 2026. The hard stop is 11:59 p.m. ET on December 26, 2026.

FAQ

What are Jeremiah Smith's 2026 Heisman odds?

Polymarket showed 63.5¢ at 14:15:27 UTC on October 11, 2026, a 63.5% implied probability, bid 63¢ and ask 64¢. FanDuel that day was -195 (1.51 decimal), a 66.1% raw price. The proportional share of the 12 printed names is 56.4%. BetMGM, on the VegasInsider page read the same day, had been +1400 at the open and +1000 after Week 3.

Is Jeremiah Smith at 63.5¢ value?

No. The 63.5¢ midpoint is 7.1 percentage points over the 56.4% FanDuel share from October 11, 2026, and missing longshots would push that share down. The six-game receiving line explains the favourite tag. It does not make 63.5¢ cheap.

What would change the read on the Smith YES?

A print at 56¢ or lower would. So would a print at 66¢ or higher, because that is through FanDuel's vigged 66.1%. An absence would. Two losses among the October 17 Indiana game, the October 31 USC game, the November 7 Oregon game and the November 28 Michigan game would. A ceremony that misses December 26, 2026 resolves the event to Other.

When does this Heisman market resolve?

Polymarket's rules point at the winner announced at the ceremony currently scheduled for December 12, 2026. If the ceremony is postponed past 11:59 p.m. ET on December 26, 2026, cancelled, or no winner is named by then, the event resolves to Other. Co-winners go to the listed name that comes first alphabetically. The resolution source named in the rules is heisman.com, and the gamma end instant is 2026-12-27T04:59:00Z.

Smith's trophy price is a different contract from Ohio State's season. The playoff outright on the same team is taken apart in the College Football Playoff 2027 odds note on Ohio State, which does not use this Heisman arithmetic and should not be read as an update of it.
