New York books took $619.4 million in the week to Oct. 4
How much did mobile sportsbooks in New York take in the week ending October 4, 2026? The New York State Gaming Commission puts handle at $619.4 million and gross gaming revenue at $49.2 million, a 7.9% hold.
Where $619.4 million sits in the weekly file
Eight operator reports for the week ending October 4, 2026 are filled in. The statewide weekly report shows $619,392,725 of handle and $49,154,704 of gross gaming revenue.
Handle rose 8.0% from $573.4 million in the week ending September 27, 2026. Gross gaming revenue moved from $48.6 million to $49.2 million, a 1.2% rise, because the hold slipped from 8.5% to 7.9%. The $49.2 million is the highest weekly gross gaming revenue since the week ending July 19, 2026, when the file shows $63.6 million.
In that statewide file, which begins with the week ending January 9, 2022, this handle ranks fourth. The high in the file is $661.2 million, in the week ending November 2, 2025.
Two of the four weeks through October 4, 2026 cleared $600 million: $611.1 million in the week ending September 20, 2026, and this week's $619.4 million.
The report does not split the money by sport.
FanDuel held 10.3% of a $228.2 million book
FanDuel's weekly report shows $228,193,108 of handle and $23,600,001 of gross gaming revenue. That is a 10.3% hold, the only one of the eight above 10%. FanDuel accounted for 36.8% of statewide handle and 48.0% of statewide gross gaming revenue.
The $23.6 million is FanDuel's highest weekly gross gaming revenue since the week ending July 19, 2026, when the same report shows $26.6 million.
DraftKings' handle rose and its revenue fell
DraftKings reported $213,980,181 of handle, up from $196.2 million a week earlier, and $13,756,092 of gross gaming revenue, down from $18.1 million. Hold was 6.4%. The book took 34.5% of statewide handle and 28.0% of statewide gross gaming revenue.
FanDuel kept $9.8 million more than DraftKings from a book of wagers only $14.2 million larger, and that gap, not the $619.4 million headline, is the week's result. The New York cash figure is not the company-wide sports margin in DraftKings' second-quarter results.
Fanatics at $70.0 million, then the smaller reports
Fanatics took $70,025,735 of handle and $4,894,277 of gross gaming revenue, a 7.0% hold.
Caesars took $44.6 million and kept $2.2 million, a 4.9% hold, the thinnest of the eight. BetMGM took $38.1 million and kept $2.7 million, also a 7.0% hold.
Rush Street Interactive's handle rose to $13.7 million from $10.3 million, with gross gaming revenue of $1.1 million. theScore Bet took $7.7 million and held 9.9%, the nearest any other book came to a double-digit hold. Bally Bet was the smallest filled row, at $3.2 million of handle and $231,704 of gross gaming revenue.
A 51% tax on cash-basis revenue
In New York, the New York State Gaming Commission taxes mobile sports wagering gross gaming revenue at 51%, and the statewide report says the figure is on a cash basis.
Applied to this week's $49,154,704, 0.51 times that sum is $25.1 million.
The note under the total says wagers on future events are taxed as current revenue, while payouts for winning wagers are recognised in the week they are redeemed. A ticket on an event still to be played can therefore sit inside this week's taxable number.
No statewide week has held 10% or more since the week ending August 16, 2026, when the hold was 11.7% on $380.8 million of handle.
Against the week ending October 5, 2025, 52 weeks earlier in the prior-year section of the same PDF, handle was $591.7 million and gross gaming revenue was $30.2 million, a 5.1% hold.
This week's handle is 4.7% higher. Gross gaming revenue is 62.7% higher.
Away from these cash figures, the commission has moved to limit artificial intelligence in mobile sportsbook promotions. That proposal does not change the week ending October 4, 2026.
Readers will not find a remark from a named official in the weekly file. The cash-basis note is the gloss on the page, and on a $49.2 million week it is the line that sets the timing of about $25.1 million in tax.
