BetGoodwin weighs an £80 million London AIM listing

Updated October 23, 2026: the company history now follows SBC News, which dates a telephone betting operation to 1997 and the online brand to 2022.

On October 21, 2026, Sky News City Editor Mark Kleinman reported that BetGoodwin's owners were working with bankers on a London flotation worth about £80 million. City sources told him there was no guarantee it would happen.

"Exclusive: BetGoodwin, the online sports betting group owned by a father-and-son management team, has been working with bankers on a London stock market flotation valuing it at about £80m, even as industry peers warn about the impact of Budget tax hikes," wrote Mark Kleinman, city editor at Sky News, on X at 13:51 UTC on October 21, 2026. What Kleinman reported on October 21

Chief Executive Julian Head and Ben Head, the chief operating officer, are working with bankers on the £80 million idea. Allenby Capital is understood to be enlisted for a listing on London's junior Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

City sources said the timing was unclear. One source said that if an offering did go ahead, BetGoodwin would not raise new money, and the current owners would probably sell about 20% of their interest. BetGoodwin declined to comment when SBC News asked on October 21, 2026.

A telephone book from 1997, online since 2022

SBC News, in its October 21, 2026 report, put the online launch in 2022. That was 25 years after Goodwin Racing started a telephone betting operation, which dates the phones to 1997. SBC did not give a shop count, a purchase year or a revenue figure.

What it did give is rank. The Blask Index placed BetGoodwin 74th in the UK and 66th in Ireland. Sky News still published no revenue number next to the £80 million sketch.

Why an AIM float looks awkward in October 2026

The listed book is a poor backdrop for a debut. SBC News put Entain down more than 40% in 2026, to £4.54. Rank Group was down about 16%, near 80p. In September 2026 Entain left the FTSE 100 for the FTSE 250 after six years in the top index.

Flutter has left London. Over the last 12 months of its London Stock Exchange listing, from July 31, 2025 to July 31, 2026, the shares fell from £228.60 to £75.88. evoke, owner of William Hill and 888, is the outlier, up nearly 90% in 2026 only because a buyer is taking it private. Bally's Intralot's £243 million purchase of William Hill owner evoke is a delisting, not a case for copying the sector onto AIM.

Last year's UK Autumn Budget raised remote gaming duty from 21% to 40% in April 2026, and general betting duty goes from 15% to 25% in April 2027, SBC News reported. Machine games duty is only a rumour. Entain has warned that doubling machine games duty would close shops. HM Treasury set Budget day as October 28, 2026.

£6.08 million of cash under an £80 million tag

SBC News reported Goodwin Racing's liquid cash up more than 122% to £6.08 million in 2024. Divide the £80 million sketch by that cash figure and the result is about 13 times. An £80 million tag with no revenue in the Sky News report is not a valuation a reader can check.

Chancellor John Healey delivers the Budget on October 28, 2026. Kleinman's city sources left the float with no date, and neither Sky News nor SBC News cited an admission document. Until a timetable is published, the £80 million figure stays a report, not an AIM admission.
