F1 2026 drivers' championship odds: Antonelli -400 favourite

Kimi Antonelli leaves the summer break 50 points clear with 12 rounds left, and the outright market has hardened around him — though sportsbook and prediction market disagree on by how much.

The 2026 Formula 1 drivers’ championship resumes at Circuit Zandvoort on August 21 with the title market close to settled. Bovada prices Antonelli at -400 in American odds (1.25 decimal); Lewis Hamilton is the only other driver inside +1000. American odds show the stake needed to win $100 when negative and profit on $100 when positive; decimal shows total return per unit.

Where the 2026 standings sit after 11 rounds

Antonelli has six wins from 11 starts — China, Japan, Miami, Canada, Monaco, Belgium — for 219 points. Hamilton is second on 169 for Ferrari, George Russell third on 160 in the sister Mercedes, Charles Leclerc fourth on 138 and Lando Norris fifth on 128 after winning in Hungary. Max Verstappen is sixth on 109 and Oscar Piastri seventh on 92, both winless.

Standings are as published by Formula 1, current to the Hungarian Grand Prix of July 26, 2026. The 50-point gap is worth two race wins — not decisive with 300 points available, but Antonelli need only keep finishing where his car finishes.

How bookmakers and Polymarket price the title

Driver Bovada (American / decimal) Implied Polymarket
Kimi Antonelli -400 / 1.25 80.0% 74.6¢
Lewis Hamilton +600 / 7.00 14.3% 10.2¢
George Russell +2000 / 21.00 4.8% 5.5¢
Charles Leclerc +2000 / 21.00 4.8% 2.5¢
Lando Norris +2500 / 26.00 3.8% 2.3¢
Max Verstappen +5000 / 51.00 2.0% 1.2¢

Those Bovada prices sum to 110.0%, a 10-point overround representing the bookmaker’s margin. Strip it out and Antonelli’s fair price is roughly 72.7% — within two points of Polymarket’s 74.6¢. Volume supports the comparison: that event has traded $201.1 million, with $4.0 million on the Antonelli leg and $393,000 of resting liquidity, so it is not a placeholder quote.

The repricing is the sharper number. When TheFairStake looked at Antonelli’s title contract at 59¢ on July 16, Belgium had not been run. He is now 74.6¢ — a 15.6-point move off one win and a Hungarian result that helped none of his rivals.

What could still move the 2026 title race

The credible threat is intramural. Russell is 59 points back in identical machinery, so any Mercedes reliability problem or intra-team incident hurts one car and helps the other. Ferrari’s two wins came from different drivers, splitting its points rather than concentrating them behind Hamilton — the structural reason this deficit is hard to close.

The run-in takes in a sprint at Zandvoort on August 22 and ends in Abu Dhabi on December 6. Two non-finishes for the leader would bring the gap inside one weekend’s swing, which is what the remaining 20% of the market prices. Our Hungarian Grand Prix odds and prediction piece covered the form lines into the break.

Betting Outlook

Favourite: Kimi Antonelli at -400 (1.25 decimal) on Bovada, implying 80.0% before margin and 72.7% after. Mercedes is -900 (1.111) in the constructors’ market. Polymarket’s traded 74.6¢ is the closest thing to a consensus number.

What the market projects: Antonelli champion, settled before Abu Dhabi, with Hamilton second and Russell third. A 54.5% win rate over 11 rounds projects six or seven further wins from 12 starts.

Side markets the numbers point to:

  • Antonelli 10+ race wins, -500 (1.20) — he needs four more from 12; his season strike rate projects about 6.5.
  • Verstappen 1+ race win, -150 (1.667) — 60% implied for a driver winless through 11 rounds and sixth on 109 points.
  • Leclerc 3+ race wins, +140 (2.40) — 41.7% implied; he has one win, at Silverstone, and needs two more.

Where the price looks short: Hamilton 3+ race wins at -140 implies 58.3%, yet he has won once in 11 rounds. That asks him to roughly triple his season pace while sharing a garage with Leclerc — an unfavourable margin on the evidence.
