Tour Championship 2026 odds: East Lake outright preview and picks

The PGA Tour’s $40 million season finale returns to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta from August 27-30, 2026 — but the outright market is still shut, because the 30-man field is not settled until the BMW Championship finishes on August 23.

Checks of three licensed books on August 22, 2026 — Pinnacle, Bovada and Unibet — returned no East Lake outright market at all. The newest published board is Caesars’ pre-playoff pricing, which had Scottie Scheffler at +350. Any live East Lake price quoted this week is a stale one.

Why the East Lake outright board is still closed

Outright markets for a 30-player field cannot open until the 30 players are known, and the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club does not finish until August 23. The Caesars board carried by Covers was last refreshed on August 6, 2026 — before the FedEx St. Jude Championship and before Bellerive. It is a reference point, not a tradeable price.

How the 2026 format works

Starting Strokes, which gave the points leader a 10-under head start from 2019, were scrapped ahead of the 2025 finale. All 30 players now begin level over 72 holes, and the Tour has tightened the par-70, roughly 7,400-yard setup to push winning scores towards par.

“Shifting the TOUR Championship to a more straight-up format with a tougher course setup makes it easier for fans to follow and provides a more challenging test for players – which brings out the best competition,” Scheffler said when the change was announced. (PGA Tour)

Season-long dominance no longer buys strokes: Tommy Fleetwood won in 2025 at 18-under 262, his first PGA Tour title in 164 starts.

Form and the bubble at Bellerive

Clark led the BMW at 12 under through 36 holes, from Gary Woodland (11 under) and J.J. Spaun (10 under). Scheffler was not close. Pinnacle’s live BMW winner market, pulled at 14:44 UTC on August 22, 2026, had Clark +211, Rory McIlroy +1522 and Scheffler out at +2770.

The line is tight: Michael Thorbjornsen holds 30th on 1,313.327 points, Patrick Cantlay 31st on 1,291.708. Sungjae Im (28th) and Tom Kim (29th) sit inside on margins one poor round erases. See our FedEx Cup bubble analysis from the Wyndham Championship and our BMW Championship preview at Bellerive.

The Betting Angle

Favourite: Scheffler at +350 in American odds — the plus/minus format, where +350 returns $350 on a $100 stake — or 4.50 decimal, per Caesars via Covers on August 6, 2026, an implied 22%. Nothing was live at Pinnacle, Bovada or Unibet as of August 22, so treat +350 as an anchor, not a price.

Predicted result: Scheffler wins the FedExCup at 14 to 18 under. The tightened setup held the 2025 champion to 18-under, and his 1,450-point lead over Fitzpatrick reflects approach play suited to a par-70.

Markets worth a look once the board opens:

  • Tommy Fleetwood top-five — the defending champion sits ninth on 2,280.767 points and won here at 18-under in 2025 under this exact format.
  • Chris Gotterup top-10 — sixth on 2,600.255 points, +2000 outright at Caesars on August 6, and inside the top 10 at Bellerive.
  • Wyndham Clark top-10 — third on 3,292.394 points and 12 under at the BMW, where Pinnacle made him a +211 favourite on August 22.

What to fade: any East Lake outright struck before the field locks on August 23. Bubble prices — Cantlay 31st, Im 28th, Tom Kim 29th — carry qualification risk the August 6 board never priced.
